Blueberries & Firestone Picnic by Annemarie

Since today was the only full day that we would be able to spend with ALL of us together, we decided to go have ourselves a fun adventure.  Blueberry picking it was!!  We loaded in and headed out to Santa Barbara Blueberries in Gaviota.  It was a beautiful day.  Sun shining, but not too hot.  We got out buckets and started out towards the green area as we were instructed to do so.

On our way out there, a man passed by us and told us that if we were up for the extra walking, we could head a little further out to an area that hadn’t yet been opened up for picking.  Ummm, yes!! We went and it paid off.  The berries in this area were so big and plentiful you could see them from far away as you were walking up to the area.

Burke and Blake were very particular and only chose the biggest ones there were to find.  Mallory was awake for a few minutes but she fell asleep, which was perfect!

We spent just the right amount of time in the fields.

I think the boys had a great time.

On the way back to the van, Burke took the lead until…..he tripped and fell….his blueberries spilling out everywhere.  I love this shot my Mom caught of all of us coming to his side and helping him pick them all back up and put them back into his bucket.

All four buckets when combined filled up one overflowing!  The perfect amount!!

Just one more because Blakers is just that cute.

I had packed us up a picnic lunch this morning and thought that we could eat at the blueberry farm, but then Brett had a MUCH better idea.  He asked if we should drive another 11 miles down the road to Firestone.  Ummm, yes, please!!

Big quilt.  Sandwiches.  Firestone Riesling.  Shade with the right amount of heat.  Perfection.

We played corn hole and had a lovely afternoon on the grass.

It’s been ALMOST 5 years since Brett and I said our “I dos” at Firestone.  What a fun afternoon to spend together at the same spot.

On the way out, I thought that maybe it would be fun to recreate one of the photos we used for our Save the Dates back in 2010.  Well, the jumping was a little harder than I remember, but we got close.  🙂

I thought your jumps were awesome! What a perfect day!! The blueberries were GIANT SIZED! My mouth was watering as I remembered picking them. These bushes practically jumped in the bucket FOR you!!! Poor Burke, spilling all his berries would have made me cry too!!
Firestone was just beautiful and a perfect end of your adventure! I am glad it was a meaningful memory!!
