A Baby Quilt for Aria Grace by Annemarie

Like I mentioned a few posts ago, I had a few baby girl quilts to make for new babies.  I had made these large HSTs for the first baby girl quilt and was excited about putting them together for another one.

This quilt was made for Marisa and her baby girl.  Big brother Kiah is about 2 weeks younger than Burke, so it’s been fun to watch them grow up to big TWO year olds together.

I arranged them a little different this time, and ended up using 16 in total, which means two are repeated.  I really like the simple layout of this quilt as it allows you to focus on the beautiful fabrics.

I quilted this one with straight lines 1/4″ from each seam, which created a neat pattern on the back.  I used solid hot pink on the back as the mamma for this little girl made a comment on the last one that she really liked that color choice.  🙂

I knew that I wanted to bind it in yellow, and so I got matching thread.  But whoops!  When I got home and started, I realized that I should have gotten the thread to match the back instead.  So, I decided to go ahead and quilt in the yellow and really like the way it turned out afterall! 🙂  I also miscalculated how much yellow I’d need for the binding (you think I’d have that down by now) but it definitely happened for a reason, because I chose to add in two pieces of one of the fabrics and I LOVE the look of the binding.

I finished up the quilt and was ready to send it last week thinking it would get there right before she was born.  I was prepared to send it with the name plate blank since Marisa wasn’t sharing the name.  But then, on her big brother’s birthday, she was born on May 13th, two weeks early, and so I was actually able to go ahead and put in her name, Aria Grace, and then send it all finished!

All rolled up.  I really like the yellow binding on this one.

This was my first time mailing a quilt, and since I was nervous about it, I sent it with the ability to track.  Just heard too many stories of things getting lost in the mail recently, and I surely didn’t want this to be one of those stories!  It arrived today and Marisa loves it.  I asked her to take a few pics and send them to me.  She’s on top of it.  Here is little, teeny, Aria on her new quilt!  Can’t wait to meet this little gal in October in SB!  Congrats to Marisa, Eric and big brother Kiah!

What a beautiful little girl. I have never heard that name, but really am taken with it! The quilt is just gorgeous, as always, and suits a tiny, feminine sweetheart to a tee! How big was she? She looks so delicate compared to Blake, who has grown so big that it is already hard to remember how little a newborn is!

I am infatuated with this quilt. I love the colors and simplicity. How large are your blocks? I purchased this same fabric and did not realize how large the print was. I did a internet search for quilts with this fabric and here we are. 🙂
    Thank You!

I received my material and made my quilt top. It looks so cute. I thought afterwards that I should have asked if “Giant” squares means 10 X 10 or 20 X 20?
I am so happy with how it all turned out. The material was wonderful. I also used the hot pink for the back. It was the best choice, I think.
Thanks again for you pintrest photo~
