Our own little LATT remodel by Annemarie

I’d been on the search for a little table for Burke but didn’t want to spend a lot of money….especially considering that this was going to be a table for a toddler.   I even had a few friends send me listings that they’d seen on Craigslist, but none of them struck my fancy.  Then one of the blogs I follow just recently highlighted a LATT chair remodel, and I thought I could do the same.

My parents were in San Diego at the time, a few miles from an IKEA, with a little bit of time to spare….so I asked them to pick us up the $20 set.  This is what we started with.  Fresh, clean, and simple IKEA LATT table.

When my Mom was still here, we took a trip to the fabric store to pick out a nice one for the chairs, and then to Home Depot to grab some paint.  So, when Brett’s parents arrived, we had everything we needed to make this table redo a reality.

Bruce got it started the day after they arrived, and had two coats of paint complete by the end of nap time that afternoon!  I love the color and how it turned out on the table.

Betty and I found the upholstery shop in downtown Goleta and scored with a scrap piece of 1/4″ foam for the chairs.  Brett and I skillfully taped the fabric around the fiberboard square.  Once the final step for the wood part was finished and dry (the clear spray coat), we got to putting it all together.  Burke was there for the final action and immediately showed us how thrilled he was with his new Burke-sized chair.

It’s just perfect for coloring…and I was happy to learn that a little swipe with an antibacterial wipe, any stray markings come right off!  Don’t you love how he crosses his feet under the table?

It’s easily transported to the kitchen where Burke can enjoy a little afternoon snack.

Chairs for two means that a friend can join in on the fun.  It’s the perfect height for little Chloe to pull up on right now, so there was room for three in on the fun!

Back in the kitchen, Burke sat still long enough to eat his cereal for breakfast one morning.  Feet crossed of course.

I really love the way it turned out, and also that everyone that loves him had part in making this happen for him.  It’s the perfect size and he loves it for so many activities!
