A $3.99 Goodwill Revamp for Emily by Annemarie

Emily came over to hang out with me on Friday night for a bit, and walked in with some of her latest Goodwill treasure finds.  If anyone can find a gem there, it’s Emily.  She was so proud of her $3.99 purchase as it has all the right pockets for all her things, is the right size, and fits to her hip just at the right spot.  Only problem….she didn’t attend the IAS2009 conference, so the front left a little to be desired.

I had the same idea that she did, and when she agreed, I ran upstairs and brought down some fabric choices that I thought might peak her interest.  Well, she loved the ones that I knew she would, and we got to scheming/designing. We dabbled with the fabrics, and it didn’t take Emily that long to come up with a brilliant design.

Today after Burke went down for his nap, I couldn’t wait to get started. I made the cuts, interfaced my fabric, and got started.  It was really fun to see this one come together.

And, voila!  Our finished product.  I absolutely love these fabrics, and am so happy that they got put to great use on on Emily’s bag.  She came over tonight for dinner and when she saw it, was SO thrilled!  She loved it, which makes this friend smile very big! 🙂

That is SO lovely! I’ve been enjoying your pretty sewing crafts lately and started to think, “Dang, I wish I could sew!” And them remembered that I can (kind of) crochet, so I started a new blanket this weekend. Thanks for being an inspiration! 🙂

Love the straight stitches on the white fabric. Really adds a lot to the quilting. Where’s the photo of Emily with the finished bag that fits just at the right spot on her hip? = )

What a good friend you are! The bag is just darling and so…so….Emily and Annemarie! Like Anne said,
the choice of layout just “popped” with the horizontal stitching across that white band. You are so talented!! Love you to pieces!
