52 weeks in the making by Annemarie

It took 52 weeks to get all of these pictures. I was (mostly) diligent about getting Burke in his white onesie every Sunday (there were 2 that weren’t taken on Sunday….don’t tell!) and finding something to put him on for the shot. I used blankets, sheets, towels, afghans, comforters, quilts, and fabric for the backgrounds.

In the beginning, it was easy to get him to lay still on his back. Then, he started to move, wanting to sit up, roll, and then stand too. In the end, it was almost torture for us to get a decent picture to use. Good thing I wasn’t striving for perfection!

My goal was to always put together the 52 pictures at the end into a coffee table book….and well, last week, I finally got around to getting it uploaded and ordered.

I decided to make each image a full page, so this baby was a hefty one. Nice timing that Shutterfly had a discount promo going and free shipping. I made out on that one! 🙂

I had a hard time trying to decide what to put on the front of the book. My first few designs were hideous. Brett was watching over my shoulder and came up with the final concept of the cover. I whipped it up, copying the color of the week from each individual picture, and I really like the way it turned out. The image is a little off center on the actual book, but again….not a perfectionist. 🙂 I am so happy that we stuck to this plan – it is such a fun book to have in our home and will be for years to come. I can see this being at Burke’s wedding one day (oh gosh…I don’t even want to fast forward that many years yet….SLOW DOWN MOM!!).

Anyways, I’m so grateful that I found Young House Love and that they came up with this idea so I could copy it for Burke’s first year of life!! I originally thought I’d keep it up, but when it came to Month 13….I just couldn’t justify spending $20 for 2 yards of fabric so decided that the white onesie pics had served its purpose and run its course. Will be on the lookout for another cute idea to do with our next kiddo whenever that happens! 🙂
