Dear Burke, by Annemarie

Dear Burke,

Another month has passed. You are three months old today.  This month milestone seemed to come a little slower, but you’re still growing up way too fast. Mommy and Daddy love watching you learn new things each day.

You really love your O-ball and it’s so fun to see you grab it with both hands and play with it. You put it in your mouth, and sometimes throw it.

One of my favorite things to do with you is cuddle. Whether it’s when I have the luxury of being able to take a little nap with you during the day, or during the night, I love snuggling with you. You take pretty good naps during the day for between 20 and 45 minutes, but at night you’re very restless. You toss and turn, and make the cutest noises. I hope that you’re getting enough sleep.

You’re a very social baby. You love being around people and will let anyone hold you, however, you definitely like it best when you’re facing out. You don’t want to miss a single thing that is happening.

You are staying more awake during the day and have become so alert. You talk to us even more and it’s so much fun when we go back and forth with the “agoos”.  You’ve also added a few other sounds – ooooo, aboo, ahhh, and sometimes you get to happy screaming in the mornings.  When the windows are open I’m pretty sure you’re waking up the entire neighborhood!

You give out smiles for free.  It melts my heart, and brings smiles to everyone around you.  It’s so beautiful to see how God is using you to bring joy to others.

You fuss if you’re hungry or really tired.  It’s kind of amusing how the pacifier has almost become permission for you to fall asleep.  If you get  kind of loud, and I realize that you’re ready to take a snooze, I wrap you up, put in the paci, and you’re out cold.  It’s funny how it falls out of your mouth too.

You drool.  A lot.  I’m not sure if you’re teething yet, but you drool quite a bit and everything goes into your mouth for you to suck on.  You have also started to suck on Mommy and Daddy’s arms if you get close enough, and are good at giving hickeys.  Let’s not make that a habit, mkay? :)  It looks like you have buds in your gums, but it doesn’t seem like you’re having any pain from it yet.  I’m ready for it though when it happens and will do my best to soothe you so you’re not in too much distress.

This morning I put your new cute owl outfit from Grandma Betty, a 6-9 month onesie that shows for 17-2o pounds. It fit pretty perfectly, so I jumped on the scale with you.  According to my very rough calculations, you’re now 16.5 pounds.  Oh boy!   You are making Mommy’s arms stronger by the day.

You still love being in your carriers, however, you’re not sleeping in them as much as you used to.  You’re so curious and learning all the time.

And yes, Mommy went a little crazy taking some pictures of you for the occasion.  It’s your fault really….you’re just too cute.

Your expressions kill me.

Oh….that smile.  It is perfect!

Your eyes are so sweet and OH SO BLUE!!  I could stare into them all day long.

This is my new favorite….and I already made it the screen on my phone.

Mommy and Daddy love you more and more every day.  It’s been the happiest 3 months my little man.  Thank you for every minute.

Love,
Mommy

I love him in his little owl onesie!! It is way cuter on him than on the hanger….wonder why :) He is the most adorable baby boy I have ever seen (since Brett). His smile is so winsome! His expressions just tickle me so much! I can hardly believe he is 3 months old already and 16.5 lbs. He is growing so quickly, and as you said learning so much! I miss him more than you can imagine.
