Still Baking at 39 weeks and 2 days… by Annemarie

Today, I started out the morning with the Goleta MOPS group at Santa Barbara Community Church. It was great to see some of the Moms again, and I’m definitely looking forward to joining this group in the fall when they start up again. Today our pediatrician, Dr. Iris, was the guest speaker, and it was great not only to see her again, but to hear what she had to tell us about the state of our country’s health today, and ways that we can ensure that our kids stay healthy!

I am 39 weeks and 2 days along today. I can’t believe that I am this pregnant.  I got a good laugh when the person at the Post Office asked me when I was due, and my reply was, “Wednesday”.  That seems so soon, but also a lifetime away!  I still feel great, and even though Brett keeps asking BBB when he is coming out, I would really like to make Easter service on Sunday, so I’m hoping he at least waits until then. We did have an appointment yesterday with Alice (one of our midwives) and everything is still looking good.

I have an acupuncture appointment on Tuesday, the day before my due date, just to see about having them push on some pressure points to get labor started.  I don’t want to get to the point where we have to do anything drastic to induce labor, so this is a pretty natural way to do that.  We’ll see what it does.  Brett really would love BBB to have an April birthday (like him), and so we’ll see what happens with that.  🙂

We joined Jen, Jake and their friend, Mekia, for a little Good Friday BBQ at their place, and had the most delicious chicken from one of the local Mexican grocery stores in Goleta. We might have to find this place because it was SO tasty!!

When we were taking off to get to the 7pm Good Friday service at Reality, we noticed that the freeways were all showing “red” on the iPhone traffic, so we took the scenic route instead. We took the 192 all the way to Carpenteria and it was lovely. It started to drizzle on the way there, but it was the strangest, most peaceful rain. It was still a little light outside, and the rain drops were really big, not coming down too hard.

As we arrived at church, I had Brett drop me off so I could visit the bathroom before the service started, and so he could go park. When we met at the front, he exclaimed that there was a perfect double rainbow outside… we went out to take a quick look.  I had the camera in my purse, so Brett got these pics.  They just don’t do the rainbow justice.  It was the most brilliant one I’d ever seen, the inside one anyways…so bright!

The service was packed, and I knew that we’d gotten there too late to find a seat……but the pregnant belly did it’s trick.  I totally wasn’t expecting it, but when the ushers saw us standing in the back, they found us two seats.  What a blessing that ended up being.   There was no way I would have ended up being able to have stood for 2 hours during the service.

We came home, watched The King’s Speech and just relaxed.  We have nothing else planned for this weekend except Easter service, so it might be a super relaxing weekend…which is A-OK with me.
